Pregnancy is a wonderful moment to become more intimately aware of how one moves about in daily life. Eutokía, which signifies “happy childbirth” in Greek, is the application of the Alexander Technique during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Eutokia is a method created by Ilana Machover (childbirth educator, doula, and Alexander Technique teacher) that aims to accompany and support people through their pregnancy and their transition into parenthood.
We will explore how to:
- Adapt every-day activities to accommodate your changing body and balance.
- Use movement to facilitate more space, support, & comfort during each stage of pregnancy and labor.
- Become aware of physical and emotional changes that arise.
- Incorporate others (partners, doulas) to support you during labor and birth, if desired.
RECOMMENDATIONS
- I recommend starting Alexander Technique classes from the fourth month of pregnancy, onward.
- Please come in clothing that allows for a wide range of movement.
